Vermont average gasoline prices at $2.90

first_imgAverage retail gasoline prices in Vermont have fallen 1 cent per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.90/g yesterday. This compares with the national average that has increased 2.1 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.93/g, according to gasoline price website VermontGasPrices.com.Including the change in gas prices in Vermont during the past week, prices yesterday were 70.6 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 1.6 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 6.8 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 72.1 cents per gallon higher than this day a year ago.”Last week we saw a correction in oil and wholesale gasoline prices,” said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst. “With wholesale gasoline prices down as much as 30 cents per gallon since last Monday, I expect retail gasoline prices to fall as gasoline stations continue to sell through their more expensive inventory and buy cheaper supply, passing on lower prices to motorists.” DeHaan says that the correction in oil prices wasn’t much of a surprise, noting that fundamentals continue to show growing supply. “If the sentiment that ruled last week continues to weigh on traders, we could see the average price for gasoline drop across much of the country, just in time for Memorial Day weekend,” he adds.About VermontGasPrices.comGasBuddy.com operates over 200 live gasoline price-tracking websites, including VermontGasPrices.com. Daniel Ortega’s Son Threatens Nicaraguan Businessmen

first_imgBy Julieta Pelcastre/Diálogo January 07, 2020 The Nicaraguan government strengthens its pattern of repression. On November 13, Juan Carlos Ortega Murillo, son of Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo, announced the creation of the May 4th Sandinista Movement (Movimiento Sandinista 4 de mayo). Ortega Murrillo made the announcement in front of the Private Enterprise Superior Council (COSEP, in Spanish), and said that Nicaraguan businessmen were enemies of the people for opposing the regime’s ideals. On May 4, 1927, Augusto Sandino, who inspired the Sandinista movement, refused to sign the Espino Negro Pact, which sought to put an end to a civil war between the conservative government and nationalist opposition groups.“In early November, the president accused businesses of distorting economic figures in order to spread fear,” Eliseo Núñez, an expert in public policy and legislative law, told Diálogo from Managua. “Consequently, Ortega might exert pressure on them with taxes and company expropriations, as he did with the media.”In response, COSEP reported that the government and its partisan structures are conducting a media campaign and public actions against organizations and private sector leaders, with threats that promote a “culture of intolerance, hatred, and death.” Political instability has affected the conditions with which to do business and triggers company shutdowns and unemployment, it added.“Economic revival and a democratic state won’t be possible until the civil rights and political liberties of all Nicaraguans are restored,” Francys Valdivia Machado, president of the Mothers of April Association, told Diálogo. Valdivia Machado escaped to Mexico after receiving threats from the Sandinista regime, and continues her work in exile. Her brother, Franco Valdivia, was murdered during the protests of April 2018.“The movement led by Ortega’s son represents violence, persecution, and repression, and it reflects the Sandinista front’s fear of losing power,” Valdivia Machado added. “The presidential couple is willing to do anything to win the presidential election [in 2021].”In addition to leading the new Sandinista movement, Ortega Murillo is the director of TV Channel 8, and owns Difuso Comunicaciones, one of the companies responsible for creating pro-government propaganda, said the Spanish daily La Vanguardia.“The Ortega Murillos are playing with the human rights of Nicaraguans. We don’t want war, but a peaceful and solid solution to the crisis that the country is going through,” Valdivia Machado concluded.last_img read more

UGP: Although the ministries promised to finally solve the problem of leasing interest this week, it did not happen

first_imgAfter the first general entrepreneurial protest in Croatia, the talks deepened, and leasing companies were invited to joint meetings. The PPP and UGP initiative presented proposals according to which all three parties involved (carriers, leasing companies and the Government) would share the burden of this crisis. All involved agreed that the problem can only be resolved in tripartite. It was agreed that the final meeting would take place this week at which everything would be finally agreed. Photo: HonkForHope At last week’s meeting at the Ministry of Tourism, it was agreed that all parties involved would prepare documents with proposals for resolving the problem of high interest rates on leases.   It has been two and a half months since the UGP and the Occasional Passenger Transport Initiative pointed out the incorrect behavior of leasing companies towards their clients. Only after two protests by occasional carriers in eight Croatian cities, the Ministries decided to finally break the silence and start a dialogue in order to find a solution to the satisfaction of all involved, according to the UGP and point out the whole chronology.  “I still hope that these were not empty promises and that we will get an invitation to a meeting and finally end the agony in which the occasional transport carriers found themselves. I still want to believe that pre-election activities are not more important than micro and small entrepreneurs, which represent a branch without which tourism in the Republic of Croatia could not function. Instead of a solution on the table, we currently have a path to ruin without the possibility of a return. Too much time is wasted. Is it possible that this is our end? After two Thursdays we didn’t spend protesting, is it considered that we got tired and gave up, that the fire was put out? I wouldn’t bet on that.” said Marko Slišković from the PPP Initiative.center_img The Association of Leasing Companies, the PPP Initiative and the Voice of Entrepreneurs Association complied with the agreement, while the Government turned a deaf ear because they did not convene a meeting this week, the Voice of Entrepreneurs Association (UGP) points out. every day makes a difference in the attempt at existential survival. The proposals were compiled by the carriers, the association of leasing companies and the Croatian Chamber of Commerce and the Croatian Chamber of Commerce and submitted to the ministries as agreed, but the Government has not voted yet, and there is only one working day left for the meeting. “Is the Government of the Republic of Croatia really leaving 20 people at the mercy of foreign leasing companies? Thousands of families are heading for ruin, but the government clearly believes it has more important work to do at the moment. The ruling party is dealing with pre-election calculations, while their voters, whose votes they think they can count on, have been called into question by their bare existence.. ” he concluded Tomislav Kovač from the PPP Initiative.last_img read more

Govt to give social aid to preemployment card beneficiaries while training courses are evaluated

first_imgThe government will temporarily turn its preemployment card program, which included a mix of social assistance and up-skilling for laid off workers affected by the epidemic, into a full-fledged financial aid program following the suspension of course sales offered by partnered learning platforms.Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah said on Wednesday that of the 680,000 registered preemployment card program participants, only 140,000 had completed their digital training. The remaining 500,000, she said, would be enrolled in the social assistance program under the Social Affairs Ministry instead.”As the preemployment card program has been temporarily stopped and among the participants are those who had lost their income, we’ve submitted their data to the Social Affairs Ministry to so they can obtain social assistance while we evaluate the preemployment card program,” she said in a hearing with House of Representatives Commission IX overseeing labor affairs.
