Cllr Ciaran Brogan is calling on Donegal County Council to continue to invest in the promotion and marketing of our county through Donegal Tourism Ltd. Ciaran BroganBrogan has said that investment in the tourism sector would benefit all businesses in Donegal, and said there has to be a more pro-active approach to entice more tourists to take in the stunning beauty that Donegal possesses.Brogan told Donegal Daily, “There has to be a more pro-active approach to making this county a top tourism destination. “I am calling on Fáilte Ireland and Tourism Ireland to increase their focus on our county.”The key routes that Brogan would like to see gain greater promotion stretches from Letterkenny to the New Mills area, which includes the historic Flax Mill, on to Churchill and the Gartan Outdoor Pursuits Centre. He also hopes that Fáilte Ireland focuses its attention on other landmark tourist attractions in an area the Glebe Gallery and the birthplace of St. Colmcille and the spectacular Glenveagh National Park. This route goes on to the Ards Friary, the Lurgyvale Thatched Cottage in Kilmacrenan, and Doon Well which also has huge potential. Then there is the spectacular scenery of the Atlantic Drive which is unrivalled anywhere.Brogan added, “I was delighted that the County Council was very active in sourcing the funding to open the Fanad Lighthouse to the public which is a magnificent facility to have and, again, can be a major tourism attraction.Brogan also feels that investment must also go into promoting the Knockalla Coast Road, yet another jewel in our crown, and the seaside resort of Rathmullan, along with the Georgian town of Ramelton.Brogan continued, “International tourism also thrives through the sport of golf and we have some of the best courses in the world.“We have the parkland course in Letterkenny and world class links facilities at Portsalon and Rosapenna. “The recently acquired St. Patrick’s golf course in Carrigart will help develop the Rosapenna complex into one of the worlds greatest golf destinations.“I would also urge investment in the development of green-ways for cycling and walking pursuits on those stretches where once the old railway systems ran – for example, the Glenswilly to Termon route should be developed as a priority facility.Brogan concluded, “We cannot sit back and expect tourists to come flocking to Donegal without playing our part, and I will be pushing for further investment in the promotion and marketing of our county and its facilities.ELECTION 2014: BROGAN – “TOURISM INVESTMENT WILL BENEFIT US ALL” was last modified: May 21st, 2014 by John2Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:Ciaran BroganElection 2014:newsPolitics

Wigan have lined up Arsenal’s young Japanese star Ryo Miyaichi as a potential replacement for Victor Moses, the Daily Mirror suggest. It is claimed Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is in talks to sign Miyaichi on a season-long loan deal as he prepares for the expected departure of Moses, who looks increasingly likely to join Chelsea.Meanwhile, Portuguese media have touted Porto full-back Alvaro Pereira for a possible move to Chelsea – although no formal offer has been made.Napoli and Paris St-Germain are also said to be interested in the Uruguay international. His agent Flavio Perchmen is quoted as saying: “We are waiting to find out if there is any offer.“We think everything will go well and that he can leave the club, but right now we do not have any concrete offer.”This page is regularly updated.Follow West London Sport on TwitterFind us on Facebook
(Visited 99 times, 1 visits today)FacebookTwitterPinterestSave分享0 Evolutionists have a new problem with short dinosaur arms, now that an unrelated species has them.Did the short arms on T. rex have a function? Probably everyone, whether creationist or evolutionist, has wondered about the monster’s short arms with two digits each. Were they shrunken vestiges of longer arms in an ancestor, serving no purpose for the king of tyrants?Behold Gualicho shinyae, found in Patagonia. This species had similar short, stubby arms with two digits each, but it lived a continent away from T. rex, so it could not have been a direct relative. Artwork on the BBC News shows what the theropod dinosaur might have looked like.Like Tyrannosaurus rex, the new Gualicho shinyae is a theropod, one of the two-legged, bird-like dinosaurs – but it’s on a different branch of the family tree.“Gualicho is kind of a mosaic dinosaur, it has features that you normally see in different kinds of theropods,” said co-author Peter Makovicky, from The Field Museum in Chicago, US.The position of Gualicho on the theropod tree suggests it evolved its small forelimbs independently from other carnivorous dinosaurs which shared the trait – rather than it arising from a common ancestor.Reasoning about this strange convergence of a puzzling trait, New Scientist comes to a design conclusion:The functionality of T. rex’s tiny arms has long been a source of debate, with theories ranging from grasping onto a partner during mating to holding prey in place to deliver a death blow. Many experts still think that the arms served no useful function, but the fact that Tyrannosaurus and Gualicho have both independently evolved the same highly reduced forelimbs with two fingers, despite occupying different branches of the dinosaur family tree, suggests otherwise.“It seems to be something that’s adaptive in lineages of dominant predators,” says Makovicky. If a feature appears separately multiple times, it becomes less and less likely that it evolved accidentally. Thus reporter Josh Gabbatiss’s headline, “T. rex lookalike suggests that tiny arms developed for a purpose.”The cognitive dissonance of the evolutionist is apparent in the quote, “If a feature appears separately multiple times, it becomes less and less likely that it evolved accidentally.” According to neo-Darwinism, everything evolved accidentally! There is no purpose, aim, or design in Darwinland. Design is only apparent, not real. Mutation means that stuff happens by chance, and natural selection (chance) likewise reduces to Stuff Happens (see 10/03/15). Darwinian evolution teaches the accidental appearance of things that only look designed for a purpose.Since evolutionists cannot live with the futility of their own “Stuff Happens” worldview, they infer (like the rational created beings they are) that the traits of living creatures are (or were) purposeful. They reach the same common-sense conclusion Paul Nelson attributes to his father in the film Flight: The Genius of Birds, “If something works, it didn’t happen by accident.”Just because we don’t yet know the purpose of a trait, that doesn’t mean it was nonfunctional. Finding the same trait in unrelated species strengthens the inference that the stubby arms of T. rex and Gualicho – both apparently successful predators – had a function. Intelligent design thinking would follow the evidence toward a rational explanation rather than calling it useless. The science-stopper is Darwinism, crying out “Stuff happens the same way independently for no reason.”Dinosaur aficionados may want to LOL at a new theory about extinction published on The Conversation: an oil spill did them in. Called “one of the most exciting developments in years” by Nick Longrich, the idea that the Chicxulub asteroid triggered a burning oil spill that did in the dinosaurs suffers the same shortcomings of all the other theories, including the high selectivity that would kill off all dinosaurs of all sizes but leave millions of delicate creatures to carry on.
brian proffitt To mark the scurrilous website’s tenth anniversary, the Pirate Bay team has launched PirateBrowser, a re-branded version of Firefox intended to allow users to circumvent censorship for many websites—especially The Pirate Bay itself.According to the main PirateBrowser page, “PirateBrowser is a bundle package of the Tor client (Vidalia), FireFox Portable browser (with foxyproxy addon) and some custom configs that allows you to circumvent censorship that certain countries such as Iran, North Korea, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, Denmark, Italy and Ireland impose onto their citizens.”The use of Tor, a network of sites that anonymizes web traffic by routing requests for content through computers within the network, is particularly interesting. But no one should use the PirateBrowser thinking it will make them anonymous. PirateBrowser simply enables users to bypass any limitations on sites that might be imposed upon them by their Internet provider. Thus, if your ISP was blocking you from, oh, say, the Pirate Bay website, this browser would have another system on the Tor network serve up the site’s pages to you. The browser is pre-loaded with bookmarks for commonly blocked sites such as Bitsnoop, EZTV, H33t and KickassTorrents. The browser itself is so far only available on Windows for now, though TorrentFreak is reporting that Mac and Linux versions are on the way soon. The Pirate Bay teams members have some additional ideas about how to prevent sites like theirs from being blocked. The Pirate Bay team informs TorrentFreak that ‘PirateBrowser’ is just the first step in their efforts to fight web censorship. They are also working on a special BitTorrent-powered browser, which lets users store and distribute The Pirate Bay and other websites on their own.In theory, this will allow sites to exist and update even without having a public facing website. As a result, it will be virtually impossible to block or shut them down. The Pirate Bay’s efforts are, of course, self-serving, and will go a long way for keeping the torrent file site accessible to many for the foreseeable future. But there is also a thread of truth in their claims that the mere availability of software packages like this will improve access for many users. Many, but not all. Even using Tor and virtual private network software for anonymous surfing carries its own risks in truly oppressive regimes. While packets of data within such networks are encrypted and anonymous, Internet service providers are still aware you are using VPN or Tor, and in some countries that may be enough to bring the authorities knocking on your door.Image courtesy James Losey, via Creative Commons 2.0 license Why You Love Online Quizzes How to Write a Welcome Email to New Employees? It was the responsibility of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiv Sena to provide a stable government for the people of Maharashtra, senior Congressman and former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said on Tuesday. In the event that the BJP-Sena power-sharing talks fail and the Sena approaches the Congress with a proposal on government formation, it would place the matter before the Congress high command and discuss it with its allies, said Mr. Chavan.“These are ifs and buts… in case we do receive such a proposal from the Shiv Sena… To the best of my knowledge, no such proposal has come to us,” said the senior Congressman, speaking to reporters in Karad in Satara.Mr. Chavan said he wondered how the saffron allies could form a government given the mutual distrust between them at the moment. “It appears that there is a major hitch in their government-formation talks. On the one hand, the Sena leadership is talking of a 50:50 power-sharing deal having been settled with [Union Home Minister] Amit Shah. Now, it seems that there is a wide gap between the Sena’s understanding and Chief Minister Fadnavis’ statements that no such secret deal was cut,” he said. “Both parties [Sena and BJP] should hold a press conference to tell the voters of the State what was decided between them in order to end this confusion.”Mr. Chavan had won a stiff three-way fight in the Karad South Assembly segment and defeated his rival, the BJP’s Atul Bhosale, despite high-decibel campaigns by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Karad and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Satara. The Leader of Opposition (LoP) would be elected from the NCP in the event the BJP and the Sena succeeded in forming the government, he said. For the first time in the State’s political history, he said, the Congress will not have an LoP from its own ranks.Mr. Chavan acknowledged that the Congress had fallen short in formulating a clear poll strategy and that it was dogged by leadership crises. Still, he said, people had responded to their campaigns highlighting the BJP’s government’s hollow assurances and severe shortcomings. He also said the Congress-NCP coalition had suffered in at least 25 Assembly segments owing to Prakash Ambedkar’s Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA), which queered the pitch for both the opposition parties and again benefited the BJP-Sena alliance.“We were willing to enter into an alliance with the VBA ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. Had we fought together, then not only Mr. Ambedkar, but perhaps six to seven VBA leaders would have been returned as MPs,” Mr. Chavan said. refuting the VBA’s allegations that the Congress had not allowed the party to grow.
