Facebook Twitter: @NeosKosmos Instagram After the eviction of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) by Thessaloniki Mayor Yiannis Boutaris from the donated Makridis building, where SAE had its offices, IKA (Social Insurance Organisation) has now threatened the organisation with eviction from its premises, because the constitutionally recognised peak body of the Hellenic diaspora did not pay its insurance and superannuation dues to the two administration workers that it employs in Thessaloniki. In a document sent to SAE, IKA warned that it will proceed to seize any assets of the organisation in Thessaloniki, if the repayment of the debt is not adjusted within 15 days. The overdue amount of 25,355,25 euros covers insurance contributions from April 1 2012 until September 30 2013. The IKA notice, addressed to the World Council of Hellenes Abroad, was forwarded from SAE’s office in Thessaloniki to the Deputy Foreign Minister Kyriakos Gerontopoulos, minister responsible for the Hellenic diaspora. Apart from repayment of debts to IKA, the two administration workers of SAE also asked for the payment of their salaries. In the same letter to the Deputy Minister Gerontopoulos, details of contracts signed by the two SAE employees are provided as well as the amount of remuneration agreed upon. The World Council of Hellenes Abroad has recently moved to a new office provided by the Minister of Macedonia-Thrace, Mr Karaoglou, in the ministry’s building.
