Wojciech Szczesny in limbo as Arsenal demand £15m from Roma for goalkeeper

first_imgArsenal have informed Roma they will have to stump up £15m if they want to secure the signing of Wojciech Szczesny on a permanent deal. The Poland goalkeeper spent last season on loan at the Serie A club and enjoyed a beneficial spell in Italy, making 42 appearances and keeping nine clean sheets.Szczesny has admitted he would be open to continuing at Roma next season, while Arsenal are also open to extending his stay there for another year before having him back in north London to compete with Petr Cech for the No 1 spot in 2017/18. But Roma are only interested in signing Szczesny on a permanent deal and it is understood the club have been put off by Arsenal’s £15m asking price.Roma are willing to try and negotiate a lower offer with Arsenal – thought to be around £10m – but if the two clubs fail to reach an agreement then the Italians will switch their attentions to signing Brazilian ‘keeper Alisson from Internacional. 1 Wojciech Szczesny in action for Roma last_img
