EXCLUSIVE: PADDY CARR RULES HIMSELF OUT OF RUNNING FOR DONEGAL JOB

first_imgPaddy Carr has ruled himself out of the running to replace Jim McGuinness as Donegal manager.Paddy Carr has ruled himself out of the running to replace Jim McGuinness as the new Donegal manager. Carr was nominated for the vacant position by Fanad Gaels after expressing an interest in the vacant role.Carr has a hugely impressive CV, and notably led Kilmacud Crokes to a Dublin SFC title and also to a provincial crown during his time in charge. He has also managed Louth at inter-county level and also managed the Meath minor team. It’s believed Carr delivered an excellent presentation that wowed the interview panel. However, its since emerged that when the details of the commitment required for the job were relayed to Carr, he felt it wasn’t feasible or manageable with his current work commitments.Carr is a native of Fanad, but resides in Drogheda, and would have to travel up to Donegal at least four times a week for training. Rory Gallagher has been the hot favourite to succeed McGuinness who parted from the Donegal job after four seasons at the helm. From the get-go Gallagher has been the favourite, but in recent days support for Carr had grown, but its now been announced he’s opted to withdraw from the race.Anthony Harkin and Cathal Corey are the other two candidates, but both are considered ‘rank’ outsiders to succeed McGuinness.Corey worked with McGuiness at Naomh Conaill, and was a hugely popular and successful manager during his tenure in Glenties. He famously lead them to an Ulster club final in 2010 which they narrowly lost to Crossmaglen. However, it looks almost certain that Rory Gallagher will be unveiled as the new Donegal manager tomorrow night.EXCLUSIVE: PADDY CARR RULES HIMSELF OUT OF RUNNING FOR DONEGAL JOB was last modified: October 30th, 2014 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:commitmentsdonegalGAAHome-page SportnewsPaddy CarrRuled outSuccessorlast_img read more

first_img-KCCA Men Vs Pemba Warriors (men)-KCCA Leopards Vs UMU Ravens (ladies)The FUBA National Basketball League continues on Wednesday evening with two games on the card at the YMCA Outdoor court in Wandegeya, Kampala.KCCA Basketball senior men’s team, the KCCA panthers will look to end the first round on a high as they take on a strong but inconsistent Pemba Warriors.Things have not gone well for Rogers Sserunyigo’s charges in their debut season – The team has lost eight games, managing just two victories in their first 10.KCCA’s two victories came in a row: They beat up on UCU Canons 75-70 on May 20th at MTN arena before adding a 56-57 win against Sharing Youth three days later at YMCA.However, since then, the side has lost five games consecutively. They come into thus tie at the back of 54-62 loss against UPDF; in a game they gave all their best but still fell short. In the UPDF loss, Brian Walters made his league debut for the new comers after a long internal club ban. He managed to make a game high 20 points.Walters, together with Francis Mbuyi (Signing from KIU Titans) will be vital figures against the Warriors’ big men.Mbuyi has picked an impressive 60 rebounds this season. The duo of Richard Ongom and Andrew Gang should also be at their best on Wednesday evening if the new comers are to pick a positive result.Warriors on the other hand, will continue to miss the services of their key players in Stanley Mugerwa and Syrus Kiviiri who travelled with the National team that is set to play in the FIBA World Cup qualifiers in Lagos, Nigeria later this week.Warriors are still with out Syrus Kiviri and Stanley MugerwaThe Kyambogo based side have picked up six wins out of  their first 10 games, losing four-against KIU Titans, Betway Power, City Oilers and worse of all, Our Saviour where the team was limited to just 36 points in the 40 minutes of play.Warriors are now 5th on the 12 team log, but Coach Ronnie Mutebi recently revealed that this time round, he is playing to win the championship.Hope he can make his team show same character tonight. In the ladies division, KCCA leopards will be looking for it’s fifth victory when they take on UMU Ravens. The Ravens only victory out of eight games, came up against fellow new comers Angels on June 3rd at YMCA, where they won 47-43.Comments Tags: KCCA MensNBLPemba Warriors KCCA have won only two games this season (Photos by FUBA Media)National Basketball League 2018Wednesday, 27-06-2018YMCA Court, Wandegeyalast_img read more

Market remembers Manaka

first_img18 March 2004The life and talents of the late Matsemela Manaka, gifted playwright, artist and poet, will be celebrated with the staging of one his musical Goree at the Market Theatre in Newtown, Johannesburg later this month.Manaka, who was born in 1956 and killed in a car accident in 1998, was a pivotal player in the grassroots black theatre movement that grew out of Soweto from 1976. He founded the Soyikwa African Theatre group, which performed unscripted workshopped plays in a satirical response to the political repression of the time. His other plays include Egoli: City of Gold (1979), Blues Afrika Cafe (1980), Vuka (1981), Mbumba(1984), and the musical Goree.Although his productions were aimed at spreading the Black Consciousness philosophy to township audiences, they were also hugely successful at theatre festivals in Europe.Goree was first performed in 1989 by the Soyikwa group and was directed by John Kani. For some of the cast, the restaging of the play will be a nostalgic experience. Both Sibongile Khumalo and Manaka’s wife, Nomsa Kupi Manaka – who is producing the play – are cast in the same roles they played 15 years ago. Gugulethu Ngwenya will be on percussion, playing the same role that Manaka performed. Jerry Mofokeng directs the production.Goree is about the spiritual journey of a young South African dancer (played by Manaka) whose attempts to learn African dance lead to her own self-discovery. She travels the continent, ending up at Goree, Senegal’s notorious island of slavery, where she meets a wise old woman (Khumalo) who teaches her about dance, music and art.The woman, Oba, also imparts her wisdom about identity and xenophobia and about the need for Africans to take control of their lives.Goree, sponsored by Eskom and Netherlands’ funding agency Hivos, runs at the African Bank Market Theatre in Newtown from 19 March to 4 April.Tickets are available from R70 on weekdays and R90 on weekends, but previews at lower prices are on offer on 19-20 March. For block and corporate bookings, call Debbie on (011) 680-2926 or the African Bank Market Theatre on (011) 832-1641.Source: City of Johannesburg websitelast_img read more

December Geocacher of the Month Nominees – Add Your Comment

first_imgGeocaching team Ralph en ThomasRalph en ThomasThis geocaching duo is responsible for a lot of smileys, both on maps and on faces. Their creative geocache hides run the gamut from a beautifully crafted trackable hotel in a surprising locations to an electronically marvelous and well-favorited night-cache that’ll send chills down your spine.T-Team! says, “In the local geocaching community (Noord Brabant, The Netherlands), Ralph and Thomas are famous for their fantastic caches. They have made many caches with 100+ favorite points and several in the top of the Netherlands. The caches are usually a fun way to be opened combined with an AHAAA moment…. Their latest multi-night-cache (GC5BP0T) has been online for just over 1 month… and already has 100+.”“Finally, they continuously take care of their caches and do regular (night) checks on them. This ensures that everyone can continue to enjoy their work. There are not many cache-makers who can make you smile as they do. For this reason they deserve to be the Geocacher of the Month!”Starkiller_, taking geocaching to new heights.Starkiller_Starkiller_ has found just over 9000 geocaches, so it’s no wonder he’s got something to teach others. This geocacher organizes and hosts a monthly workshop for geocachers interested in leveling-up their game through third-party software, advanced GPS maps and functions, or just by tackling more difficult puzzle-caches. Some months he even brings in guest speakers to host a workshop on a new topic…birdwatching while geocaching, anyone?Starkiller_ has even worked with Ontario municipalities and conservation authorities to help manage geocaching in their areas. Not to mention the fact that he created a “Geo-Passport” which takes geocachers on a geocache tour through the South Nation watershed in Ontario. At the end of the tour, you’ll have learned something about the natural heritage features in the area, and will have earned a specially designed geocoin.Waterlillimm says, “With a personality as big as his name, Starkiller_ is a physical and mental challenge to many Geocachers here in Ontario. While holding such high standards, he teaches us how to enjoy our Earth and Sky and all the beauty & fun that it can hold. If he is not attending a Geocaching Event, he is planning one. If he is not searching for a Geocache, he is creating one, if he is not showing us “how to cache” he is caching along side us. To be as considerate and as passionate of Geocaching as Starkiller_ is, we feel that he deserves the honour of being Geocacher of the Month.”The Seastars at their favorite zone.seastar255This geocaching team is responsible for 13 successful and well-attended CITO (Cache In, Trash Out) events in the Space Coast of Florida. You might even call some of their events “CITO+” (or über-CITO?), for their outside-the-box initiatives (trail maintenance, invasive species removal, etc.). They’ve even teamed up with local environmental organizations to put geocachers to work where they’re most needed.Mother Earth isn’t the only thing getting kind attention from seastar255–their local geocaching community has felt their impact as well. Says Team Mollymap, “Seastar255 is the heart and soul of the Space Coast geocachers. This husband and wife team along with their daughter, Young Money Girl (YMG), have hosted 55 events in our community and counting. Not only are they the host and hostess with the most-est they also make awesome field puzzles, mysteries, and nothing beats a YMG hand decorated ammo can. If you need something this team is there for you, they support you but also encourage you to grow and learn new things for yourself. Do Commercial Vendors Deserve Equity?

first_imgTags:#start#startups Top Reasons to Go With Managed WordPress Hosting Why Tech Companies Need Simpler Terms of Servic… A Web Developer’s New Best Friend is the AI Wai… If you asked startup founders whether they would rather give away 5% equity in the company or one of their toes, many would choose the toe. CEOs like Zynga’s Mark Pincus have always argued for startup founders to “own their destiny” and maintain control and ownership of their company. That’s why it was surprising to read VC Deal Lawyer Chris McDemus’ recent article entitled If You Provide a Strategic Technology or Outsourced Service, Consider Taking Some Equity in Your Fee Structure. Early-stage startup companies are used to giving away equity to advisors, IP lawyers and key staff, but McDemus argues that those vendors who provide core technologies should also build an equity agreement right into their service contracts. McDemus gives the example of Mint‘s acquisition by Intuit and how if Yodlee had taken some of Mint’s equity for providing the backend of the service, the company would have made great money on the sale. While this might sound like a good idea for service providers who risk abandonment, the idea is likely to ruffle the feathers of many a startup founder. The fantastic thing about startup companies in 2010 is that they’re iterating faster. Rather than stumbling in the dark for a few years before launching a product, many have launched in a mere six month engineering cycle. In fact, we’ve even featured companies being built in a week or a weekend. If vendors asked for cash AND equity as part of the commercial license, I wonder how this would change development. While service providers risk abandonment after startups get acquired by bigger companies, they may also risk abandonment for pursuing the equity route. Alternatives to an equity-seeking vendor might include open source technologies, using competitors who do not demand equity, or in a worst case scenario, building the core technology from scratch. If the bulk of your business’ technology is built in association with a commercial vendor and that vendor asked you for equity, would you give it to them? If yes, why? If no, how would you cope? center_img dana oshiro Related Posts 8 Best WordPress Hosting Solutions on the Marketlast_img read more

How To Watch The U.S. Presidential Debates Online – Updated

first_imgTuesday night is the second of three debates leading up to next month’s U.S. presidential election. As Mitt Romney and Barack Obama verbally duke it out in a townhall-style forum, your options for tuning in are greater than ever before. Much has changed in the last four years. In 2008, watching the debates online without a cable subscription involved streaming them from a clunky player on CNN’s website, which could kinda-sorta be full-screened to fit onto your television, if you were so ambitious as to plug your laptop into your HDTV. Good news: This year, things are much easier. (And not just for watching online, but also for interacting with other political junkies.) Just as it did on October 3, tonight and on October 22, CNN will stream the presidential debates between President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney live on its website. In a new interactive twist for this campaign, the network’s Web interface allows viewers to select specific clips from the debates and share them over Facebook and Twitter. CNN’s livestreams are available on many of the connected gadgets we’ve all spent the last four years purchasing. Most live feeds in CNN’s mobile apps require a cable subscription to access, but the debates are freely available on iPads, iPhones and Android devices. See also: How To Participate In The Presidential DebatesCNN isn’t the only source streaming the debates online. Huffington Post is using its new HuffPost Live platform to act as an interactive hub for both watching and discussing the debates between Obama and Romney. The Washington Post, CBS News (via UStream), PBS Newshour (via Ustream) and Fox News are just a few of the other outlets that will be livestreaming the debate tonight.Meanwhile, YouTube’s Election Hub is offering every presidential and vice presidential debate live, as well as additional coverage and commentary from media partners as diverse as ABC News, Al Jazeera and Buzzfeed. Back on their own sites, partners like ABC, CBS, Politico, and Univision will be streaming the debates live as well. The Wall Street Journal will do the same through its WSJ Live apps for iOS, Android, Boxee, Apple TV and a number of Internet-connected HDTVs on the market.   If you’re hosting a debate-watching party or simply prefer to sit in front of a big screen, you can always plug your laptop into an HDVT using VGA, HDMI or any other compatible cable. But sleeker solutions have emerged in the last few years. Xbox Live subscribers have access to an interactive feed of the debates, although plenty of other free options exist. If you happen to own an Apple TV streaming box, you can AirPlay any iOS-friendly or Web-based streams (presuming you’re running Mountain Lion) directly to your television.  john paul titlow Tags:#politics#web Why Tech Companies Need Simpler Terms of Servic… A Web Developer’s New Best Friend is the AI Wai…center_img Top Reasons to Go With Managed WordPress Hosting Related Posts 8 Best WordPress Hosting Solutions on the Marketlast_img read more
